I’ve been curious about what opinions are held of curved mags out there. They seem like a good idea and one explanation I have seen is that their curve is more natural or accommodating to the depression of the skin when pressed in. Any thoughts out there? Posted it here cuz there is no section specifically about needles.

do you have a copy of the book? Basic fundamentals of modern tattoo?
I think it covers the info about needles.

I like curve mags for some things –
      you can see here:

I did this tattoo entirely with a 15mag woven curved

but you can’t outline with curved mag as well (at least I can’t)-
      I did this tattoo:
      http://www.flickr.com/photos/toprockertattoowebsite/3889498094/in/set-72157622124564142/
      with 2 needles:
      needle #1: 7mag
      needle #2 : 15 mag curved

I used the 7 mag to outline pretty much
      ..
with a curved mag you can’t really get in the tight corners.

Both of these tattoos took about 3 hours.

      You just have to experiment.

Are you an apprentice some where?
