without seeing your art first can’t say that you have a full understanding how to shade. That is where you start at. When you can look at your own art and say it is better than ok then you are ready for the rest. I am not saying that to be mean. A solid understanding of gradients, and color theories is first. Secondly if you ebayed your kit it is more than likely only good for tattooing practice skins, or pig skins. Do not think you are just gonna start tattooing people. Research how to set up machines for lining, color packing, and shading. Then get some practice skins, or pig skin. When you look at that, and can tell yourself honestly you are ready then tattoo yourself. If you are not willing to put learning tattoos on yourself then don’t tattoo. With all that said. It is always best to get an apprenticeship. The other thing you have to learn before touching anyone is blood borne pathogens. This is extremely important. There is more to tattooing than I bought a machine, and I am ready. Learn about hepatitis, aids, diabetes, and the so many other things can affect where, and if you tattoo a person. Buy books, and read read read read, and learn learn learn learn. Hope this doesn’t discourage, and you take the advice. Good luck.
