The contact point is another important part of the tattoo machine.
The contact point is the tiny actual spot on the machine
where the magic happens. Electricity flows through the machine
and ends up in the contact point, and it needs to get back to the
negative lead. The way that it does this is by means of the front
spring. When the front spring hits the contact point the circuit
is closed, and the magnets turn on. When the magnets turn on
and pull the armature bar down the circuit is then open and the
magnets will turn off. This cycle is repeated.
