      Hello Everyone!

Again, like many who start a post in these threads I’m a newbie. Names’ Jamie and I’m below novice really . I’m an artist, and recently decided I wanted to try and become a tattoo artist. I’m 20 years old, and live in the middle of no where New York. I’m hoping soon to get myself into a good College ( the one I’m at now has me living at home and nothing good is coming from it) as well as find some place to apprentice at. Untill then I’ll be skipping about to learn what I can, as well as get my portfolio in gear. Though, I do know it’s better to start with a clean slate, but I’d like to really know what I would be getting myself into atleast if I decide to make this my career and the rest of my life. ^-^

Tattoo is very interesting / fun career choice –
but it is far from easy.
be prepared for long hours – and some difficult customers –
and a lot of pressure to do your best work each and every time.

build a portfolio – and GO TO ART SCHOOL – you wont regret it.
get tattooed – as much and as often as possible – you will start to learn what is a good tattoo -and what is not.

then you can get an apprenticeship – you will see good and bad shops
you will see good and bad artists
you will see good and bad gear…

tattoo can be very cut-throat.. but it can also be the path to a lot of new friendships – and push your skills to the limits on a daily basis.

      best of luck!
