Participantyour bamboo is solid dude
maybe a little more green than I would have used but still a solid piece
i would have gone with more yellows/tans in the stock of the bambootry and draw out some backgrounds. just the backgrounds, and shade them with pencil. that way youll get a feel of how to shade it on skin
the background on the koi was good in theory, but i feel it was too black. you need a bit of a gradient in there. the koi design looks good, just try to be a little creative with the colouring, you know? some red scales here and there, yellow, black, white, maybe some spots on the fins. these small details REALLY make your tattoo popyou can also bust out a nice 14RL for just the border of your main subject to make it pop more
in this tattoo I used a 7RL, 5RL, and a 14RL
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/971237_468862436522532_671656811_n.jpgyou can also blend colours in the skin like i did here.
in the fins I did a soft grey shade, then the yellow, then the orange overtop of the yellow to make a gradient, but I whipped out the orange while over top to make the gradient like I was shading.for the dragon try to draw different faces. the face needs some work.
i kind of mix traditional, and japanese.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/408415_363112973764146_612118482_n.jpgand

feel free to experiment and throw your own flare on it
https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/300366_358044024271041_1609092759_n.jpghttps://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/304420_358044064271037_1920957959_n.jpg
https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/386946_358044394271004_73936095_n.jpg
back to backgrounds here is an example of something I did. again experimenting with koi designs
https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/394475_358044107604366_299057498_n.jpgthat’s a black and grey water background
i dont think I have an example online/on my pc of a cloud background.
but you want to try to keep them more bubbly, and larger “humps” rather than little ones.
heres an example i got off the internet
http://www.tune-in-tokyo.com/wp-content/uploads/akilla_tat_11.jpgsee how its more like bubbles sort of rather than like the clouds you did?
im not saying yours are bad by any means. im just saying this way is more to the japanese style, and is more esthetically pleasing to the eye. not to mention its easier ;)your tube also doesnt look disposable. fi it isnt then you sh ould have an autoclave or get disposable needles. you cant fully sterilize your grips after each tattoo which is 100% necessary after every tattoo if you arent using disposable. disposables are a little more expensive, but well worth the cost to give your clients piece of mind.
im not saying they are bad, nor am i trying to be a dick or rude. these are just some tips, and bits of advice I’d give to make your Japanese work that much better. Japanese is my baby. I gotta take care of my baby haha
i hope to see more work soon dude
also try to get some larger pics next time :3

Just need to clarify I do use disposable grips and tube.i only used that tip in the picture once when a got a p.o.s tatt kit in sence then iv stocked up on all disposables.
Like you said give peace on mind to me and the client.and don’t worry about weather on not your being rude I’m a big boy you could say it looked like shit and I’d still say thanks for being honest lol -

ParticipantAwesome. Using those tubes really arent bad if you’re tattooing fruit, or practice skin, but if you tattoo yourself, or a client make sure you use disposable like you’ve been doing!

said to be modeled after a woman, who was once a beautiful and fell in love with a priest. Her unrequited love causes her to turn into a monster who expresses the fury of a woman overwhelmed by jealousy and anger.

great work on that though. doing full black and grey on that leg?

Coverups can be quite tricky to master. -
August 9, 2013 at 3:43 am #23944
Ramenuzumaki
Participantdo you have a before pic of the cover up?
the first pic of the three doesnt work
your main focus for a cover up isnt necessarily to COVER the tattoo it is to masque it, and draw attention AWAY from the original tattoo. use as many of the original lines as possible, and the busier the new tattoo is the better as this will draw the eye away from the original piece :3
Always try to go bigger with the new piece as well :D -
August 9, 2013 at 6:50 am #23945
Lennart82
ParticipantMost who start doing cover ups, has a twisted image of how a cover is buildt. They often just black it to mask it.
I’ve even heard a tattooist say, that the only way to cover up, is to use alot of black. Which in my oppinion, is just very, very wrong. -
