I just tried the tip suggested to me… “put a pencil in your tattoo machine and use it as you would your machine…”
works really good to get the feel of how to hold the machine and proper control and angle…but also let me say its not as simple as it sounds…I used this tip as I was transfering a drawing onto my spirit hand transfer paper..I’m not sure if it’s the weight of my machine or the fact that I’m just starting out so holding my machine hasn’t become second nature yet… but was that a job in it self….. i suggest every 1 give it a shot & post some replies or other tips……

I actually bought a $5 pos Chinese machine.
I modified it hold a mechanical pencil. When
I push down on the armiture bar, it push on
the pencil and advances the lead. I use it to
      do most of my drawing.

just gave this idea a try with a machine i once used. the weight shifting and stuff is a challenge, wish i would’ve thought of this back when i went to school. i do believe i’ll be doing all my sketches and doodles this way now.

I heard that it was a good way to build up the
muscles that you use while tattooing. I have
      my kids using it also.

Within a diverse environment like that, an artist should be able to eventually find something that fits their working style.!

I love the idea! pretty creative. I will give it a try. When you say you push down on the armature bar, do you actually connect to power and use your foot pedal or just push the A bar with your finger? hahaha

      Cheers,

Just push it with you finger.
I can’t imagine what would happen if you pewered it up.
Might be kind of amusing. I might have to try it :P
