I thought it was about time I put something of mine up here.

Obviously it still needs the rest of the scales, line work and colour/shading.

There are other bits and pieces in that album too. A lot of it is fashion related though because that’s the industry I’ve come from. :)

one of the things i do with scales is i save them for freehand. if you’re doing a stencil by hand instead of using a copier its much easier to get those scales on with a marker and saves time making the stencil :3

also try not to scan too many WIPs and show them off
i dunno about you but i tend to stop working them and putting htem on the back burner for a while
or people will say things and ill get discouraged to finish the design haha

all in all its up to you but thats just me

even when i make dubstep if i put a WIP track on soundcloud i never finish it haha

I know what you mean about WIP’s but sometimes if I show someone my WIP’s it give me the push to finish them. :)

I can definitely see where you’re coming from with the scales but I’m wanting it to be a finished picture and then if I get to ink it in the future I will just not trace the scales and then put them in freehand. I’m assuming you can do that of course?? Hahaha!

Thanks for the feedback! :) I might do another version of this later with larger scales. I definitely agree that bigger scales would be better on skin. I’m thinking smaller ones would just end up blurring into one another?

Exactly. As a tattoo ages the ermis layer of the skin actually gets thinner. This causes the ink to spread slightly. This is what causes those blurred lines in tattoos that are ten years old. Try to avoid small spaces, especially ink script, as you will lose your open spaces
