Welcome. Do you have any pics of your work so far?
I highly suggest getting the book supplied by this site. It is really helpful!! Don’t forget to keep it clean, use disposables and only practice on yourself, fake/practice skin or pig skin. Good luck and always ask questions. No question is a stupid question :D

for me it is a matter of practicality…
can a cheap Chinease machine be rebuilt and customized to run ok? sure. the question is do you have the time/energy/money to do that?
if you get a cheapo machine for $70, then buy some decent coils for $30, then a few various springs and capacitors, a-bars, ect- then you’ve spent $100-$150… -

Thanks ben! Yeah, I’ve been practicing on fake skin, grapefruits, oranges and myself lol. Yes, I am using disposables. They are super cheap and amazing. I started off with a 3rd liner and the lines were so faint, so I switched to a 5RD shader because I didn’t have any other liners but it seemed to do the trick. Where is a link…

Welcome to the family mate. Look forward to hearing your input. Any questions feel free to fire away. No one on this site will go off and call you a dirty scratcher (from my experience). Can you post some of your work? They seem to work better on here of you post links to stuff like photobucket or other sites like that.
Cheers,

Considering it is your first tattoo it is pretty good. Good saturation of colour and reasonably straight line work.
However, (puts on grown up voice  ) I hope you practiced on yourself or practice skin or even fruit first. And are using disposable grips tips and needles. Also, do you know much about blood borne pathogens?
Can I suggest…[Read more]

Not bad! :D I did notice the scales are pretty wonky in places but I find found multiple curves on your own leg is really hard. The angles just don’t make it easy for you. could do with more depth like you said with the shading but I like it! Good work!
