cjmahone66 replied to the topic Great Flash Book!! in the forum Suggestions 12 years, 10 months ago
i have purchased a few off Amazon too, ended up sending one back it was so bad. but… i have “Classic Flash in 5 Bold Colors” (#1 and 2) and they are both really great IMO. author is Jeromey “Tilt” McCulloch. i’m really trying to work on making my tattooing cleaner and bolder, so these two books are very inspiring. some of the images are a…[Read more]

i would like to comment, but the pic quality is just too bad. is the tattoo really that muddied up or is the pic just really out of focus? hard to tell, get a better pic if you want people to critique.
suggestion: when i first started on human skin, i made sure to choose designs that would be easily covered-up later if i screwed up. just a thought.

markets function on supply and demand. apprenticeships are in short supply, but demand is high. that means that most apprenticeships worth working in will not be looking for you- you must find them. just my 2 cents.

i like your art very much.
on another note… tattooing is a skill, but it’s not brain surgery as some would like everyone to beleive.
anyone learning a skill as permanent as tattooing is smart to take it slow and sqeeze every ounce of possible learning from every experience, but don’t let the grandeur of it all scare you from moving forward.…[Read more] -

had some time to work on it last night. not happy about the very hard line in the purple shading, but overall it was a fun tattoo to do.
you win, you lose- either way i learn something every time. -

I’d say, speaking from experience, lay off of skin until you are more comfortable knowing exactly where your needle is going. You have a lot of “double vision” lines there…and it’s just form not being comfortable with where the needle exits your tube and being able to see and put it where you want.
Practice skins…

i always thought that “cut back” refered to liners that had a shortened or “cut back” spring, allowing for stiffer and faster action.
your method for shading sounds like it’s worth a try. i wonder if there is another name for it that might gather more search info? this method doesn’t seem to have anything to do with cutting springs.

i didn’t feel like i was having trouble getting Prism to sink in… but it did seem to fade too fast. my tattoos were looking pretty nice when new, but then a few months later they looked way too faded.
then i tried some Intenze inks along with Prizm in the same tattoo, and that’s when i noticed the difference. i hadn’t realized until comparing…[Read more]
