imported_canvasyou replied to the topic Drawing. in the forum Design Ideas / Technique 13 years, 9 months ago
Best advice I can give to someone starting out is how to rapidly get a concept on paper – show to a client, sell it, and then refine it in a way that can be tattooed in a specific period of time.
Don’t get caught up on drawing people, or animals, or really good abdominal muscles…
focus more on working from multiple references – and the big…[Read more] -

imported_canvasyou replied to the topic Isopropyl Alcohol, how to use it ? in the forum General Questions About Tattooing Safe 13 years, 9 months ago
I prefer to use heavily diluted green soap, or Dr. Bronners.
During the tattoo session you should just use mild a mix as possible, maybe even straight water.
Prior to the session you should clean the area w/ Alcohol.
After the session, I like to spray w/ hydrogen peroxide – just to clean up any specs of blood for photos. -

sorry to say, but a lot of the top tattoo supply companies will only mail tattoo supplies to professional studios. They do this for a reason. : ) get an apprenticeship if possible – or else try eBay?
Best of luck to you

imported_canvasyou replied to the topic Ebay Power supplies in the forum Give me the Power 13 years, 11 months ago
we ran a knock off eikon next to a real one – gave same readings and ran same voltage – but the knock off fell apart. like the knob – the feet and the sticker that was also the power button… cheap… stick with the REAL thing – and support the companies that invested their time in inventing the shit. I like pulse though

Flikr.com and post a link. I cant host a large amount of memory on these forums – they require a lot of tender love and care – the bigger the database of tattoo stuff the more money it costs me, then I have to do things like pawn my kids’ shoes… seriously though if you want to show photos do me a favor and host them on another site – there are…[Read more]

imported_canvasyou replied to the topic Machine building, tips and pointers for the NOOB. in the forum Suggestions 13 years, 11 months ago
Before you can build machines you have to know what a good machine is. Buy good machines. Invest in 5 – 10 good machines. Then tear them apart and measure every aspect of them. Then build your own and you can try to re-create what you like and change what you dont like… This forum is for tattoo artists who are apprentices – usually an apprentice…[Read more]

imported_canvasyou replied to the topic starter kits in the forum My Machine Hates Me! 13 years, 11 months ago
I think that kits have good and bad. The worst thing in the kit is usually the power supply. You have to get a good one like EMS or Pulse. There are some knock offs that are suprisingly good. You can get by with a kit machine for practice – and then just upgrade coils and springs. You have to start somnewhere though. Work on your drawing first! Be…[Read more]

Best to get into a real studio and start a proper apprenticeship. To learn the difference between jail and real pro gear. You should def veere away from kit power supplies and machines – but they are not ALL bad. You have to check out what you get. I have seen ALOT of high quality stuff coming from china – that is solid. It is out of tune and the…[Read more]
