Photoshop is a great tool for use with dot matrix – you can actually set the image size easily – just type in the height and width in inches – then print – PRESTO tattoo stencil in proper size… There are a few “cheaper” models of thermo fax out there – I have seen some on Unimax for not so bad price –
Thermal copiers are great for quick line…[Read more] -

Quote from Book Basic Fundamentals of Modern Tattoo: ”
As mentioned in the section about metals, the frame is the bulk of the metal on the machine. There are infinite styles of machine frames available. Some machine frames are cast from a mold and others are milled out of a solid block of metal. Additionally, some machine frames are…[Read more] -

True – which is why you should be cautious – in person or online. Too many tattoo artists talk shit about each other these days – and it really just boils down to insecurity, or greed.
I have always been the type of person to try to meet all the artists in my area, and talk to them like humans – and not judge their work.
There are a lot of…[Read more] -

You sir should not be tattooing if you need to ask questions like these in a public forum. Go do a real apprenticeship and you wont need to ask!
Too funny! HaCkFiNdEr!
Actually – What some people refer to as “single stack Mags” are what other refer to as Flats.
In my opinion, only thing that makes a MAG a “mag” is if it is WOVEN.“double stack”…[Read more]

not bad – be careful not to over work the skin – especially on the “white” pigment..
try to blend a little more as well –
a good technique is to lay down light black shading – then cover with color – and multiple shades too – not just solid coloring book –
use a mag and get some depth in there w/ shadows!not bad though..

You have asked a lot of questions! This is a tattoo machine specific question forum – for apprentices.
You should work on your drawings – and you should make sure if you are going to tattoo your friends that you use plastic tubes and throw away the tube, tip, grip, and needle each time.
Do not use metal tubes and tips. You really should learn…[Read more]

Probably puffy because thats what happens when you tattoo – haha.. wasn’t trying to say good or bad – was just curious.
If it was puffy, and you had done it a week ago – then I could be nervous.
Yes, I would def. say that you have base skills that would be required – if these were your first 2 tattoos.
I would recommend that you go get an…[Read more] -

Most thermo Fax style machines are just going to make a copy
w/ the purple spirit masters paper –you put the drawing in the carrier (usually cardboard) and the heat and light cause the purple stuff to bond with the paper – and the carbon in the original ink..
and it magically makes a copy…
its not a printer –Think lamination machine – more…[Read more]

imported_canvasyou replied to the topic Whats the difference? in the forum Pigment vs. Ink 16 years, 1 month ago
Def not.
Some people think thin ink goes in easier – so it is better
other people like thick ink –
depends on your style of tattooing – how you move your hand / w the needle
it is an art form – so these are tools.
I suggest buying the .5 oz bottle (sample kits) of a few brands and see which you like best… -

“Prizm is amature ink”
Don’t write off Superior so fast. I have had some excellent tattoos with Prizm – especially the Purple and Red.
Prizm is pretty thick, but its not garbage. I personally use Starbrite for most of the work I do, but I am actually contemplating checking out Prizm again. Just be careful what you call novice ink.

too deep with color as in too deep with any ink:
You jack up the skin – bad healing – scabs inks comes out
there is a happy balance between poking and scratching – before it becomes tearing and hamburger meatPrizm is probably what you used from superior… you dont have it anymore? why?
I recommend Starbrite – but Prizm is not that bad actually…[Read more]

Do you ever tattoo w/ Mags?
You can achieve really smooth gradients with larger mags – I would have used 15 mag or even like a 20+ Mag for the bulk of that piece – will go a lot faster and be a lot smoother – just a suggestion. -

You have to DRAW a lot..
Every day you need to be tracing… and tracing… and tracing.
If you can’t draw well – then you have to trace… until you can draw the things you trace in your sleep.
Then when you understand the shapes and patterns in the things you trace – you will start to combine and resize them into your own unique designs.
But it…[Read more] -
