i use a cheap $52 digital eikon copy from China. Seems to work fine for me and helps out a lot with tuning. the downfall is u can only hook in one clip-cord. but they now make a copy of the one u guys are talking about looking like a guitar effects pedal. I think it was like around $65 and works exactly like the eikon model. How long will it…[Read more]

your machine is probably set up like a traditional style shader. smooth powder grays and transitions in grays are easier to acheive with a faster running machine. with a slow running machine your hand movement is also going to have to be slower. if its too fast you get the “hit and miss” you’re talking about. I assume this is what u are talking…[Read more]

man i have seen some of these things. i used to use homemade machines when i very first began.I built several. not knowing and not being able to find proper education of the art is the main cause of this. if artist want to horde their knowledge of tattooing thats fine i guess???, but they should at least set people on the right path as far as…[Read more]

ur machine may not be tuned right or u could have a loose capacitor wire. this really isnt that big of a deal if its on a shader machine but could cause some problems such as faint lines or dotted lines if on a liner machine.

inky V replied to the topic Whats the difference? in the forum Pigment vs. Ink 14 years, 7 months ago
yeah u probably put it in too deep or too hard. i have used prizm ink a long time ago and i think its super thin. way too thin. or at least that batch was. and plus it smelled like half alcohol. dont buy ink from kaplan cause its half listerine. i use intenze it goes in smooth and heals nice and bright.

i have never used either of these machines but just because a tattoo machine comes from China does not mean its not a good machine. i have 2 American made machines and they didn’t run half as good as the ones from Chine until i bought some china made springs to put on em. the reason i bought new springs for them is because the big special “hand…[Read more]

inky V replied to the topic machine set-up in the forum General Questions About Tattooing Safe 14 years, 8 months ago
No. Actually i would like to have this book. i just make my machines run faster or slower by changing the spring gauge configurations. i run my machines so that they bog down as soon as u hit the skin so that u can hang more needle out and not traumatize the skin. I run my shaders at about 85 to 90 cps and my liners at about 105 to 110 cps this…[Read more]

inky V replied to the topic machine cleaning in the forum General Questions About Tattooing Safe 14 years, 9 months ago
its good to still take the machine apart about once a month and clean it just like tubes and only autoclave the frame and and the hardware. not the coils. coils should wiped off with bleach water. you should clean everything down after each tattoo session, including your machines with bleach water. just spray it on a paper towel and wipe your…[Read more]
