I think the curved makes shading a lot easier. It’s more tricky to get into corners but love them for blending.

I read the READ THIS thread and thought I’d give some info.

Machines: Were chinese made originally, valsturd from Hildbrandt, but I rebuilt everything but the frames with coils and parts from Baltimore Street Irons in Hanover PA. I like American parts LOL
Ink used: One for black, Love it! Intenze for color
Needles used: 3rl bugpin for outline, 5rs to fill in the black, 3 liner was to small to fill in, 9 m curved for color
I have to go over it and add more color to the tatt. Wife had cellulitus on this leg a few months back and just touching it hurt her. I told her to get it on her other one but she refused LOL So needless to say she cried in pain till it was finished. Hence having to go back and finish an easy piece LOL
Took about an hour and a half, would have been sooner but wife was hurtin.

Looks good! Blood would look good, maybe a very lite gray shade over the whole thing so it all has some color.

Ummm took around 6 hours, note this is only my 3rd tatt lol, and I used a stencil i drew up. Like I said he needed a lot of breaks and I was having a hard time with the skin snagging at certain spots, right below the ribs. He said it’s healing nice so when it does I’ll be finishing it up.
I think having my airbrush background helps a lot with certain things.
      Thanks!

      Thanks dreamer,
The tatt took about 3 hours with 2 breaks in there. I use a 9 curved mag thats why I put the c before mag LOL My bad.
I’ve been using diamond tip disposables for lining and not riding the tube to do my outlining. Sometimes I get a little shaky when I first start till I calm down. I’m thinking about trying some round tips and riding the tube till I get more comfortable. After a couple lines I calm down and get in the zone and everything goes smooth and time flies LOL

Thanks. Once it’s healed I’ll have to see if there needs to be any touch ups. I know I’ll probably fix a some of the outline where she just had to move lol Owell she loves it, but I’ll feel better with some of the lines fixed.

Thanks! Yea did 4 on some practice skin. Real skin is way easier than that rubber crap lol. I think my 10 year airbrushing career has helped a lot with color mixing and shading. Nothing like starting out with an easy one huh? LOL being sarcastic
I have #2 coming up sat. I’ll post pics when i’m finished.

Thanks for the reply. I love airbrushing but I’m at the point I need to try something challenging, learn something new, you know what I mean? I know all about the highlight difference, but I do most of my work on tees and always try and use the white of the shirt for the highlights, I hate using white unless I absolutely have too. I think my main thing I have to learn besides how not to spread diseases and keep it sanitary, which most is common sence if your a clean person, is blending the colors.
It’s easy when airbrushing, you go closer, or far away, less and more paint. I’m assuming when doing a tattoo you go a little harder and slower for the solid color and lighter and faster to fade it out. I have a friend back home that is a tattoo artist I only wish we lived closer LOL
I love the style of Nikko with the use of color and not just a solid outline colored in like a coloring book. Thats what I want to strive for.
As for an apprenticeship LOL I’m not impressed at all with any of the work coming from the shops where I live. I think I could teach them a thing or two about color theory and shading LOL I think at this point in time I’m going to watch my friend when I visit and practice on fruit and pig skin until he feels I can do my first tatt. If it’s 6 month or 2 years I don’t care as long as I’m good enough not to fuck anyone up for life.
Heres a link to my stores facebook page.
      Thanks again,
