Easy glow! It’s retarded bright and goes in ridiculously easy. And it stays bright! Top notch shit. I’ve loved every color I’ve used. They tend to have a thinner consistency but I prefer this.the colors are perfect to line with right out the bottle. Customer service from manufacturer leaves a.bit to be desired bit still totally worth it. Try their…[Read more]

Also instead of green soap we use this stuff called Dr. Bronners concentrated hemp soap. You dilute it down and it works amazingly to clean the area, apply the stencil, AND wipe the ink. Also comes in a very pleasant peppermint scent I and most of my customers find preferable to green soap. You can find it at most head shops. It’s good shit.

I know it was said already, but its good advice. Always start from the bottom and wipe down. Its the best way. Also not sure what you’re using for transfer but I’ve used some lower quality ones that wipe off and smear much easier. Spend a couple extra bucks on the good stuff. It makes a difference. I forget the brand we use at the shop but I know…[Read more]

Also not sure about a cut back shader. I don’t think the extra speed would be necessary, for me I like my shader to run a little slower. Helps me get smoother gradients. Also I like a longer throw on my shader. which is harder to achieve with a cut back. a softer rear spring could help

Jbeaufosho replied to the topic shading looks "sketchy" in the forum How to Get an Apprenticeship in 3 days or your money back! 12 years, 8 months ago
One thing that really helped me break that habit was getting some prismacolor colored pencils for my drawings. Aside from being possibly the best colored pencils out there, you can shade the same way you tattoo. Going lightest to darkest, little circles, etc. Ive improved my art like crazy since I started using them. maybe something to look into.…[Read more]

Honestly bro your art isn’t terrible. And your gradients aren’t half bad either. Im not sure if that was the style you were going for or if thats just how it turned out, but I I definitely think you’d have better luck with a stacked mag. Like a 7. Also instead of dipping in water try pre mixing a couple different values in ink caps. (1 cap with…[Read more]

I’m just an apprentice, but I’ve done several knuckle (first tier) tats and not
really had any problems. However I have heard this to be a pretty common problem ESPECIALLY with the inside. it almost always has to be re done a few times. and palms, forget it. they need to.be redone tons of times and even then they tend to fade out completely. Dont…[Read more] -

Dude, honestly I landed an apprenticeship at one of the best shops in my state by showing the owner drawings out of a.beat up book bound sketchbook. Persistence is KEY. there were so many times where I was SURE I would never get it. But I never gave up. I’m also a full time dad and husband with a part time job and an apprenticeship at age 24. It…[Read more]

I would avoid using a flat. If you don’t know what you’re doing they can chew the skin up pretty bad. Try a regular stacked mag. Also are you whip shading? If so, instead try building values with different washes. Dont get me wrong whip shading is great for certain effects but can also lead to the look I believe you are describing. Good luck! Let…[Read more]

Unfortunately no. but sometimes you can find someone selling their machine on ebay. Keep checking, you might see something. But most importantly get an apprenticeship! Then you can order from anywhere. Good luck.

Glycerin will actually make it thicker. But yeah water should work fine, you just may need to mix it periodically throughout the session while you’re dipping your needle.

Shouldn’t be a problem I’d thin it out a bit with a few drops a witch hazel in the ink cap though. If it’s too thick you’ll have a harder time getting clean lines

I actually had the same problem. From what I understand it’s because they’re switching over entirely to only 4oz bottles and phasing out the 1 oz completely. Still not a great excuse but the high quality of the pigment almost makes up for it. So I guess avoid buying the sets :/ and yeah the colors line beautifully! I’ll post some pics eventually…[Read more]

Jbeaufosho replied to the topic Shading in the forum Design Ideas / Technique 12 years, 8 months ago
When shading first of all I will hardly ever use a round shader. I almost always opt for a mag configuration. That being said I can get pretty much every shade I.need by using 3 different values. Solid black in one cap 3 drops of black and the rest witch hazel in the second, and the same for the third but with only 1 drop of black. The technique I…[Read more]

The pulse linear is only like 225 and worth every penny. do yourself a favor and spend the extra coin. Even lower quality machines run miles better with a.higher quality power supply.
