Been over a year ago i sat down my stuff and packed it up. Finally broke it back out not long ago, hoping to knock the cobwebs off and get back to business soon.

  • i rigged up plexiglass nailed to my table and a clip on light under it, works perfect enough. the hand drawn out stenciling takes alot of time, only way i do it though. gets my hand used to curves and stuff before laying down the tat.

that’s pretty impressive. wish i knew how to turn my thoughts into art, used to be able to, but no longer. it’d be a very interesting back tat though.

  • there was a tube awhile back online that i saw. was surgical plastic stuff, fully autoclavable and wouldn’t melt. thought to myself it’d be nice but at $6 or more per tube is a bit out there fer a scratcher like me.

  • i pick the design or draw one out, scan to the computer, open photoshop, flip the design (so when printed or traced, when applied to skin its facing the right way). from there i use tracing paper and felt tip pen and go over it. i used to (on myself) go over the design in pencil then felt tip pen, but realized that it doesn’t stick well at…[Read more]

true. wouldnt suggest doing that on a public/computer you cant keep an eye on when someone uses it. my laptop never leaves me, and when it does, i created a custom password protected “user” so no one logs in.

  • i’ve also wondered this too. but, since i’m a “scratcher” can i even charge at all? i mean, i’m litterally using money for food and instead investing in tat supplies, and in return, no pay off. guess it’s why people come to me for tattoos is it got around “i know a guy who does it free”. where i’m located, the nearest tat shop is 1 1/2 hrs away…[Read more]

i’m also using google chrome. it does sign me out if im on the site and not doing anything. all i do is click “log in” and my screen name and password shows. i also clicked “save password” when google chrome asks for wesites, guess it’s also called “auto fill”. i use it alot fer everything i’m on.

i bookmarked mine. all i do is open it and poof, signed in.

  • i’ll prolly catch a lot of flack fer this, but amazon.com has decent starter kits. The “kit” i have is a frenkenstein of random machines, tips (stainless steel, i know not what i’m pose to use unless i can professinally clean them) and disposable tips, boxes of 5 and 7rl, mags (that i never use cuz the packaging opened) and crappy ink. When i…[Read more]

  • the one that over heats is brand new, chick had it less than a week in the box, tarded it to me for redoing a tat for her. it had all the washers and everything when i stripped it. got a bad habit of stripping and cataloging all the parts, then putting it back together. swapped the motor out from another machine that’s never failed me, still over…[Read more]

  • actually that helped alot. my main problem is only being 106lbs doesn’t leave much areas to tat and not hit bone. my left forearm is pretty much covered and left leg, tried above the knee tat…in all honesty, i’d rather be hit in the groin with a steel toed boot. i give major props to people who have tats there now. so many tat ideas, so little…[Read more]

thanks roger and canvas, i believe this tat is going to be done by a pro. showed the idea to my girlfriend and she was amazed at detail and that i’m breaking my big rule of tattooing someones name on me.

color wise, what should i go with? i was think realistic as possiable, the heart a bloody redish maroonish color and banner a parchment faded…[Read more]

  • i was recently approached to do a tat fer a guy that wanted a troublesome tattoo. don’t get me wrong, i’m no pro, (i say that a lot) i’ll do a tat of just about anything. this fellow wanted a tat of a child hanging like a pinata and people smacking the kid with sticks…at first i was like “wtf” then without hesitation said “hell no, find someone…[Read more]

just gave this idea a try with a machine i once used. the weight shifting and stuff is a challenge, wish i would’ve thought of this back when i went to school. i do believe i’ll be doing all my sketches and doodles this way now.

  • the nickel/dime gap. i use one machine set a dimes gap for linening and the other machine set at a nickel gap for shading/coloring. i havent had probs, just gotta use a 7rs or a 5rs, pretty much round shaders for coloring, just the way i do it, or a 7 mag. To answer the other, i do not know what the needle is set in the pic, i just eyeball it, set…[Read more]

  • i’ve only shaded 2 of my tats, it isnt really messy to me. the following picture is what i set mine for. i don’t ride the tube tip either, i just (on myself) set my machine for that and go half of that into the skin. my problem is rushing and not getting a first good pass, now i’m slowing down and taking time, less touch ups. for shading i set the…[Read more]
