well to some of the comments, the boiling, then soaking in alcohol was actually RECOMMENDED by a doctor, so thats the method i went with. The chemical solution sterilizes everything it comes in to contact, so those of you saying i dont care about aftercare and spreading things, ur dead wrong. i research tirlessly for answers, and also had some…[Read more]

Your stuff is kinda cartoony. try to smooth out and be consistant, then try to do more gradients with shading. I think you do have some great potential.

usually skin “snags” comes from skin not being tight, but it looks like you overcome that obstacle rather nicely

Honestly, this is going to be constructive critisism…PUT YOUR TATTOO MACHINE DOWN!!!!! Dont touch another inch of REAL skin until you know what you are doing. Your lines are shakey, and the color is spotty and not solid at all. If I were the person receiving this, you would get a quick kick in the ass a FEW times over. Looks like your machine is…[Read more]

Place a little vaseline on the needle bar where the rubber bands are. That may fix your issue. it gives the bands a lube job and lets them slide around but still do there job with less friction. Old school trick, but I hope it helps.

jtdaltonsr replied to the topic Starbright black outlinen ink in the forum Pigment vs. Ink 13 years, 4 months ago
Well, blacks are NOT the same. you got ouliner, which is typically thinner and goes in better, then you got tribal, which is thicker and more pigments within the formula, and then true black which is generally all around good.

I definately will keep you posted…an my mindset will be when i go in, “ive never done a tattoo a day in my life, and i dont know what im doing…show me the basics!” I know when i get out, Im NOT going to be a super tattoo artist, but I WILL be more knowledgable than if I wait around for something that probably wont EVER happen…an…[Read more]

lines that are too deep look like a “valley” or “groove”. You dont want that look at all. Shading too deep or over working sometimes looks like oatmeal. hope that helps!

jtdaltonsr replied to the topic apprentice or not? in the forum How to Get an Apprenticeship in 3 days or your money back! 13 years, 4 months ago
My 2 cents….Ive been labeled a “scratcher” for about 10 years. ONLY because when asked where i started, I told the truth…in my kitchen with a toothbrush and walkman motor. I personally have been “walked” out of many tattoo shops “JUST BECAUSE” of me stating the facts of where i came from. Now, before I get too detailed, Ive NEVER had a proper…[Read more]

I Have YET to get an apprentince, but have been able to be shown some “hands on” by a legend in my area. If i would have been shown this info from jumpstreet, i would not have had a black eye or screwed some dudes tat up! AN apprentice is the way to go for MOST. It would greatly benefit me, bc if u show me once, its there pemanently. On the other…[Read more]

Ink goes in the same way, no matter what the color, at least with my experience. Its the same procedures to inject any color in the skin, just act like its black or green.

been a while since ive posted on this thread, but since then I have went TOTALLY with disposable. Mainly bc i dont have an autoclave, and the method i used rusted one of my grips, didnt want to give a client anything. I was boiling everything, then soaking in mix of 50/50 alcohol and water. then in a green soap bath and then back in alcohol and…[Read more]
