jtdaltonsr replied to the topic INTENZ Zuper Black reviews.. in the forum Pigment vs. Ink 13 years, 5 months ago
Yeah ive noticed that. I have Ichiban Sumi outliner ink, which is pretty thin. That goes straight in, one pass. Ive also used the Intenz Zuper black for outlining, and it goes in well and is dark as HELL but i sometimes have to touch a few lines up more than the Ichiban. Ive also noticed the thinner ink is easier to layer than the thicker inks,…[Read more]

jtdaltonsr replied to the topic building lines in the forum Design Ideas / Technique 13 years, 5 months ago
In my experience, which, im not a pro yet so u will know, but when i have multiple line thickness within one piece, I will do the outside lines, then fill in with the magnum. I was told to try with the liner, but Im afraid i may turn to oatmeal if i do that. So if i were u, I would FIRST try with the mag setup, if THAT doesnt work, ask your mentor.

hey that sounds like a great idea! ima have to try that out, so u mean put an o-ring RIGHT around the coil, so that the abar hit will be absorbed a small bit? just making sure im on the same page. sounds like a great and inexpensive idea!

I do like a good comic style drawing, but when it comes to tattooing, gradient shading is the way to go! UNLESS this is what the client is looking for. Good work! Its nice to see original pieces too.

The A bar is SUPPOSED to hit the front coil. the only coil thats not supposed to have contact is the rear coil, supposed to be like a manila envelope thickness when the abar pushed against the front coil between rear coil and abar. if it is too loud, try putting a small sticker on the front abar to quiet it down a lil, or try those silencer…[Read more]

jtdaltonsr replied to the topic grip tip and needle question…` in the forum Design Ideas / Technique 13 years, 6 months ago
Actually, they said the tip. they called it “tweeking” but I dont know if I should do this! I do bend the bar some, it is even across with the bands on it, but for some reason, the needle tip ALWAYS curves slightly upward. Anyone know anything about tweeking a needle tip as it is called?

jtdaltonsr replied to the topic Some of my work in the forum Post your work here 13 years, 6 months ago
have u tried to use diamond tips? they have a “groove” that will keep the needle from jumping around and keep your lines straight. also, try to do all lines in one fluid motion to keep the line looking like one line, instead of two crossing, or spots where u stopped. remember to have confidence, go in with it. if u dont, ur work will show. keep up…[Read more]

Uneven spots, or “holidays” for me show up when i dont properly stretch the skin. Try to stretch a small patch as flat as a sheet of paper as you can, concentrate only on the spot your on. Usually when I do this proper, I dont get the uneven look, or spots.
