I do agree with you in the fact it feels completely different, I just like to practice on fake skin first at least until i can do semi smooth lines. Just basically so i dont fill my legs up with crap tattoos. But once again, only in my opinion. :D

I’m going to say the reverse. Don’t practice on anything other than Human skin. You’re not going to be tattooing rubber mats or fruit, so why waste the time developing techniques and ‘a feel’ for applying them to mediums which feel totally different to Human skin… Practice skin is the skin between your knee and hip… The only way you’ll learn…[Read more]

When i buy a machine i always change and tweak things on it to my liking… The main thing to keep a machine running the same time after time is good quality parts.. I went to the link you provided, and it said “not available to U.S.”
One listing says shipping to the Americas, on the long list, I admit, it does show United States, but as above, shoot them a message and see if they will ship to the US. If they definitely won’t, and you’re interested in one, as mentioned, I’m happy to forward one…[Read more]

Item location: Hong Kong, Hong Kong
Postage to: Americas, Europe, AustraliaI know they list United States in the Exclusions, but they also say that they will post to Americas… Might be…[Read more]

Ok thank you for ur help, ive been running it at 6.5 for lineing and 5.5 for shadeing.
No worries, I guess it’s just a case of what yours runs nicely on :) The eBay sale for mine listed it as needing a higher voltate, but as it runs fine on 4.5, I can’t see the need to run it any higher :D

If you test w/ spore tests and send to lab and they come back clean – then i would guess it would be okay to use pressure cooker type. But I would just use disposables – be safe!
It’s certainly the easiest, and most efficient option

Just thought I’d share it for anyone who might’ve been considering going rotary from coils, as at that price point, even if someone doesn’t like it, it’s no big abuse to the piggy bank, and if they do like it, then they get a good bargain to work with :)

KitchenWizard replied to the topic Needle getting stuck??? in the forum Design Ideas / Technique 12 years, 2 months ago
Is the needle actually snagging in the skin? When dipping your needle, did you hit the bottom or sides of the ink cap? I’m wondering if the issue is the armature bar getting magnetized and sticking to the back of the coils, and giving the illusion of the needle sticking in the skin…

KitchenWizard replied to the topic Coils Or Rotary? in the forum Best Tattoo Machines 12 years, 2 months ago
Just to add my .2c to the OP topic, I recently switched from coil to rotary, and find the rotary machine a dream to use. No more hassle of setting up or tuning the machine before using it, just clamp the tube, slap the needle on the peg, lacky band to hold it down, bag it, and you’re good to go. No worries about vibration shifting the screw…[Read more]

About 1.25 and 1.50 mm To be honest, I’ve found the nickel and dime rule to be pretty irrelevant, given each machine will have it’s own ‘sweet spot’ where it will give the best effect, so even using a nickel or a dime, you’re still going to have to adjust the contact screw away from that distance anyway  It’s a good ‘rule of thumb’, but by…[Read more]

I think the comments bashing Chinese kits are nothing more than elitist snobbery… Comparing a Chinese kit to branded equipment is a totally false and invalid comparison. You can’t spend low, and expect to get Big $$ performance. However, what you will get, from a Chinese Starter Kit, is reasonable performance at a reasonable price. It will…[Read more]
