Looking through some of your work its looking good, a few small problems here and there but nothing major. ON this design for some reason the roses just look flat with no real shape to them…you did a good job on putting the down but the design has some flaws.
Thanks for the feedback, could you be a bit more specific as to the…[Read more]

I know what you mean, and when I’m the one behind the machine, likewise, every precaution is taken. Gloves get swapped 3-4 times before I even get to setting up the machine. All my studio tattoos in the…[Read more]

KitchenWizard replied to the topic Thigh tattoo in the forum Design Ideas / Technique 12 years ago
Got to admit, my thigh has been the easiest part of myself to tattoo… I’ve done the front surfaces above my knees, the outside edge, which was awkward to sit for, but easy to tattoo, and the inside edges, which were a bit painful, but easy to tattoo… Practice skin is the skin between your knee and hip, not a rubber mat :D

KitchenWizard replied to the topic When does an artist say no to a tattoo? in the forum Design Ideas / Technique 12 years ago
If I thought I could execute a design well, then I would not turn away money from something like a White Power tat or Hitler Portrait, after all, as pointed above, it’s not a reflection my personal opinions, but of the person wearing the ink, and that person is ‘already there’. However. In the past, I have done work on a couple who have turned…[Read more]

Couldn’t agree with u more well said thankz
No worries, I’m always happy to help :) I’ve just seen so much conflicting advice given over the years, that I think that if it works for you, then stick with that method, rather than changing method simply for the sake of changing method, and possibly doing a substandard tat as a result

Are those pros friends, or just guys who work in studios (and thus consider you a threat to their businesses?) If that koi was your second tattoo, stencil issues aside, it’s pretty obvious why they would see you as a…[Read more]

Well, good for you, bad for the studio artists who don’t come up to the basic levels of art work and hygiene  I guess I was just meaning, don’t let anyone get you down for being a home artist, it’s nothing to be ashamed of :) An apprenticeship isn’t the only way to learn, and in a studio…[Read more]

IMHO. a scratcher has no artistic talent, has no hygiene standards, and puts out poor quality tattoos. A scratcher could work from home, or even be a licensed studio artist. I’ve seen amazing work done by home artists, and real junk done by studio artists… As long as you work to high standards, you’ll never be a scratcher, regardless of where…[Read more]

Oh for sure, I think knowing the fundamentals of coil machines really should be part of every tattoo artist’s knowledge. Sure, they may chose to use only rotary, but, you never know when a guest slot may appear, or…[Read more]

KitchenWizard replied to the topic Anyone using the Rotary machines? in the forum Rants and Raves 12 years ago
I recently bought a really cheap rotary machine off eBay £6 shipped, and it works a treat :) I was working on my brother in law for about three and a half hours, and it never missed a beat. None of the hassle of adjusting and setting up a coil machine, just fit the tube and needle, and you’re good to go :) Also, in addition to the contact…[Read more]

KitchenWizard replied to the topic Autoclave/Pressure Cooker? in the forum General Questions About Tattooing Safe 12 years ago
I had a tattoo done a few days back, and the artist and I were talking about sterilization and whatnots. He had a medical autoclave, but said that he knew people who did use pressure cookers as a substitute. He said to run the cycle for an hour, but either way, it’s interesting to see that others have found pressure cookers to be an acceptable…[Read more]
