I used mostly 7 and 9 mags, grey wash for the branches and just started with a medium to light wash and worked my way up.
the blossoms were just pretty much whipped from the center out. I use starbrite inks, havent tried any other brands yet.
I’m getting better and learn a lot every day but i have a long way to go. I just ordered a copy of the basic fundamentals book last night.I’m going to be doing some upgrades soon, right now I’m using cheap $40 chinese machines but I’m about to build a small private studio on our property and upgrade my gear to probably something like danny fowler or micky sharpz machines, havent decided on what i’m getting for sure, still researching. Yesterday I completed the 4 hr BBP and infection control course for tattoo artists, cost me $50 but it’s worth it.
Nice work. You’re well on your way. Where did you find the BBP course at?

Nice. I dislike Prism inks myself. I never use them. Intenze, Kuri Sumi and the occasional Starbrite are all I use.

Anyone done them? Are the difficult? Any tips?Yeah, I’ve done them. My best advice is to stencil them as close in detail as you can and do it without an outline or use a blood or grey line if you have to. I just make sure I have a really good stencil that doesn’t come off and just use a 7 mg. I fade up to the the wrinkle lines. It just looks more natural and more like someone dipped the baby’s foot in the ink and stamped it on, as opposed to a traced one. They aren’t hard to do, just time consuming making sure you get all of those tiny lines and wrinkles in.

As soon as it’s healed and he’s able to sit again, I’m going to finish the water, background and all the white work.

portrait tattooing is a different realm than portrait drawing. i myself have wanted to jump into it, but kind of scared. i think and know i can do it, but something keeps holding me back.
Same here, dude. I’m too scared of fucking up. I’ve seen BAD tattoo portraits. I don’t want to be on some site being made fun of, lol.

It’s always too quiet here. I wish it wasn’t. Even I got quiet cuz no one’s replying to my posts. And yes, I’m self taught. I draw alot of different stuff, but portraits are my fav.

Well, it sure looks better than it did. But I agree, you do need to fill the black in more. It’s patchy. But overall, a lot nicer than it was and a damned good effort.
