I make my own washes from Kuro sumi. I dont get to use washes a lot. I was taught to to layout 3-5 little cups 1 drop, 2 drops, 3 drops and so on, filled with distilled water. I also work fulltime, plus the hour bus ride. I rather tattoo all day and get to play with my kids than work for someone else doing something I dont like. Gotta work at a tat shop to learn how to run a shop.

Good use of complimentary colors on your flash pieces.

Advice – do 33 more. Choose the top 10-12. Frame well. Show some range. Dont get stuck on “flash” Im pretty sure tattooist are tired of people coming in with a portfolio full of flash they have already seen a million times. Be original.

I think the essential point, is if the machine is hitting hard or soft… Using a soft-hitting color packer, I can work over an area a few times without getting bleeding. If I was to try the same trick with the liner, I think it would be quite a different result :shock:

You will see it in there. The trick is to keep it in there after you are done tattooing. Tight circles. One pass, no blood and proper depth (is that how you spell it?). If you get blood it will most likey reject the ink going in. When it scar it will also push out ink. So try to get every thing in one pass, at most two passes.

By no means Im a pro. But I was taught to crawl before I walk, and learn to walk before i run. My suggestion would be work on your lines before you start to color. Dont skip ahead, yet. The line is the base of the tattoo, it defines the tattoo, with out that base, the tattoo will fall.

I love this part of the arms.

I get letter requests alot. So a good fine line is a must. What I have learned is to put my little finger out an touch it to the skin to anchor and I use my spare hand to stretch the skin and I almost rest my machine on my spare hand to guide. Almost always I go back when Im done filling to touchup lines.
