Personally I’d go a tad darker, and then solid fill the letters. It’ll make it look much better. It’s hard to tell from the pic as it is kind of blurry and theres some noise but your line work looks pretty good for your third tattoo. It’s hard to really tell much with these pics. Hopefully he didnt have his arms out all day, and only had them out…[Read more]

definitely not I was just curious. for smaller stuff like that I usually use Round shaders too, but if you wanted a more faded edge then a solid line maybe try a 5M1

the only real comment i have is for the foot tattoo. it looks good, and i do have experience tattooing my own food so I know how hard it is. the only thing is the placement that bothers me. the side of your feet have a different type of skin from the top. it is a lot tougher, because it rubs on a lot of stuff, and you shed you skin a lot more…[Read more]

Normally when I do shading I just kiss the skin, and I do a whipping motion. it makes a really smooth and nice gradient.
doing the style of shadow you did though you did a pretty good job.were you using a round shader?

what inks are you using?
It could be your technique. Make sure you go in at a 45* angle, and do small slow circles. You also need to make sure your machine is tuned properly, and your power supply is set to the proper voltage. Your power supply doesnt necessarily affect the speed. It affects the power of the machine. If it’s too low the needles…[Read more]

You can make a crappy cheap machine work fantastic if its the right type of metal and you replace the junk parts with good stuff.
When I was first starting, I was told that all these kits were junk, so I went out and researched what the best materials were and found cheap Hand-made machines made out of quality stuff. My first…

the thing about dynamic is im pretty sure it is a tribal black. tribal blacks do not have an undertone. Kuro Sumi blacks have a slight blue undertone. Because of this even their outlining ink can be used to make some pretty decent greys :3
I’d say try dynamic for your solid fills, and maybe your outlines too, and use Kuro Sumi for shading.

my thing about it is your skin rip looks too much like ripping paper. you want it to look a little more fleshy.

I am in no way knocking the tattoo. I’m not trying to be a dick, or otherwise rude, or anything. I just think people saying that something is awesome, or flawless, or amazing doesn’t help people grow. I was simply giving my opinion based on my experience as a black and grey artist. :3 It’s a great tattoo, and the technique is good. Just to me it…[Read more]
