This one is crooked but that’s how I had to upload it to get the pixels down.

Thanks for the info. I’ve always wondered about the white of black. Well here it is. Tell me what you think. I think it turned out great. The yellow worked out good too. I basically took the old Sailor Jerry Rattle Snake and conformed it to what I needed. I blew up the head to distract what ever old tattoo might show through and I thought the…[Read more]

I understand what you are saying TexasPT but that’s not whats happening on this end. Everyone’s pics are the same size and low pixel. Zooming in after saving only degrades the image. Like I said, maybe it’s just me.

Thanks. Ya I’ve been using the EZ grips too. I like them alot. I use disposable tubes so the only thing we have to sterilze is the grips.

Randy5 replied to the topic Percentage of actual apprenticed Tattooists in the forum How to Get an Apprenticeship in 3 days or your money back! 13 years, 1 month ago
A school like that would be awesome! Also, I’m artistic but I prefer doing flash, their is a reason old school flash was drawn the way it was, its easy to read, bold, and holds up over time. I wish it was easier to convice people to get it vs whatever unartistic idea that pops up in their head one day. I’ve been thinking about cutting off all…[Read more]

But how many do you think actually did apprentice? I’m not knocking them, just wondering what is the real deal. I know of a tattooist who dogs the shit out of scratcher’s, even though he was one, and even though I’m not apprenticed I wouldn’t recommend scratching to anyone, their is some real horrible work out there, but their is no way every…[Read more]

Welcome. I can’t speak for everyone but don’t hesitate to ask me anything you want. I’ve been tattooing for ten months, don’t know everything but I’ve got a little more than the basics down.

Randy5 replied to the topic Wipe Vs. Dab in the forum Design Ideas / Technique 13 years, 1 month ago
I do both depending on where I’m at on the tattoo. Try using paper towels without texture and use only water or 1 part water 9 parts green soap while wiping or dabing. I don’t use my 1 to 4 ratio soap and water until the end. Using more water really helps keep the inflamation down while tattooing. Plus using alot of green soap while tattooing will…[Read more]

I really like the We the people one! How long have you been tattooing? What needle groups do you like to use?

Randy5 replied to the topic Some of my work in the forum Post your work here 13 years, 1 month ago
Looks like your having trouble with your ink flow, and a steady hand.
Dont dip you machine into the ink while it is running. Dip twice, only turning on your machine after you pull the needle out of the ink cup. To much ink coming out make a mess and you can’t see what your doing.
Move a little slower while building your lines, and pivot on your…[Read more]

Josh Carlton has some good info in ” In the studio with Josh Carlton”. It has video’s and a book called “Advanced tattooing techniques a guide to realism”. The book explains how to tune a cut back shader.

Randy5 replied to the topic Woven vs Flat in the forum Design Ideas / Technique 13 years, 1 month ago
Thanks for the info. There seems to be no consistancy in names when dealing with the companies. I usually buy from monster steel but they dont list woven. Maybe they call them just mags. Thanks.

Randy5 replied to the topic Colt 45 in the forum Post your work here 13 years, 1 month ago
I recently learned to tune my shader a little faster when working black and gray so that it provides smoother more consistant shading when working over a large area. Basically your width between your contact point and spring is a little smaller than a nickel but not quite a dime’s width. Then turn up your power till your machine sounds like a…[Read more]
