You can make a crappy cheap machine work fantastic if its the right type of metal and you replace the junk parts with good stuff.
When I was first starting, I was told that all these kits were junk, so I went out and researched what the best materials were and found cheap Hand-made machines made out of quality stuff. My first…

the thing about dynamic is im pretty sure it is a tribal black. tribal blacks do not have an undertone. Kuro Sumi blacks have a slight blue undertone. Because of this even their outlining ink can be used to make some pretty decent greys :3
I’d say try dynamic for your solid fills, and maybe your outlines too, and use Kuro Sumi for shading.

my thing about it is your skin rip looks too much like ripping paper. you want it to look a little more fleshy.

I am in no way knocking the tattoo. I’m not trying to be a dick, or otherwise rude, or anything. I just think people saying that something is awesome, or flawless, or amazing doesn’t help people grow. I was simply giving my opinion based on my experience as a black and grey artist. :3 It’s a great tattoo, and the technique is good. Just to me it…[Read more]

Lesson 2: Shading
Lesson two is all about shading. Pick five different subjects, and draw with high quality shading. There must be a clear direction for the light source. This doesnt necessarily mean you need to add white to show highlights, but show some areas where you would naturally see a highlight from that light source. Preferably black and…[Read more]

Personally I prefer a machine that can do one thing fantastically rather than a machine that can do everything mediocre
thats just me though. everyone has their own personal preferences, and if it works well for you more power to you Scotti :3 -
Ramenuzumaki replied to the topic My turn I guess in the forum Post your work here 11 years, 4 months ago
and if you loook at the rose its one solid shade. there isnt any gradient to it at all
i also didnt say add white i said add highlights. this will add more dimension, and more strongly define where the light sources are hitting
there is a lot of open space, and with the single shade it looks like its waiting for colour to be added -

I looks unfinished. Could use some more darker blacks in there. Never be afraid to add black! Highlights would also be a nice contributing factor to the completed look of the tattoo. A lot of people tend to stray away from the darker blacks, and such, but it gives a more finished look. It is a rad design, and really well executed. It just looks…[Read more]

just take a few deep breaths before you do a line bro n you’ll be fine. practice makes better always remember that.
Kuro Sumi is my go to ink. I love it. I use the Hurricane HP-2 you can probs get one for 60$ online, or if you have the cash get the new HP-3
Pulse has good supplies too but again are expensive

The main difference between us and the general public is that we are part of the industry they arent. They are just our income essentially. By not having tattoos you are showing other artists that you don’t really respect the industry enough to sport the work on yourself. You aren’t supporting your own industry by not having tattoos. That’s why a…[Read more]
