Yeah I get what you’re saying but I tried a 7mag1 on my little brother, he insisted. lol He’s like my guinea pig for tattooing. I was actually practising today on some practice skins, did fairly well and got the idea of the whip technique within a half an hour or so. Going to get some pig skin and practice more, cause I’d definitely to use mags more often.

I just retuned my machine from being a liner-shader, to a versatile beast! I don’t know if I’ll use my other machines again! haha

Thanks, Infamous. I’m doing another skull this week sometime for my dads friend. The drawing is wicked, and it’s my own custom, one of a kind just like those tattoos. I try to do my own thing, all original. I use the round shaders but I want to cause less trauma, that’s the whole point, to do the least amount of trauma. It might take me 2hrs to do…[Read more]

You should always dip into something, even when blood lining. Whether it’s distilled water, witch hazel, or some sort of wash.

Yeah, I found him. They look like decent quality machines. I’m asking him questions before buying one, but I think I might purchase one.

@Spider Thank you Spider, I checked that out but IMO it seems like that’s one persons preference. Not saying it’s bad though.
@Angie if you have some extra money, look into buying the book “tattoo machines and their secrets.” It’s a little bit expensive but well worth the money, it literally teaches all the aspects of your machines.

Angie, what is your voltage set at? You could be moving your hand to fast for the voltage you have your machine set at. @infamous Making the machine hard hitting is just a preference. That’s not the problem… and I doubt it’s that either. You can tune a machine to do everything if you know what you’re doing.

Oh wow, 10v is very high, especially if you’re new at the trade. I’d suggest learning how to tune your machine better. I tuned my liner so it’s hard-hitting and I only run it at 7.6v I’d suggest not doing multiple passes on the same line UNLESS you let it heal and then do pass over it again. But that’s my opinion, and if you’re going to do…[Read more]

You need to do lines in one clean sweep, always make sure your machine is moving forward or from side to side. It looks like your either not doing one pass lines or not stretching the skin taught enough. Maybe even a combination of both. What voltage are you running your machine at to line?

So am I but my PS has a switch on the back to change from EU to US or vice versa. Well I hope that they’re worth the money for your sake. May I ask where you found this person, and can you purchase these machines without a being a licensed pro or apprentice? Like I said before you can get ok machines and tune them to be a decent. Meaning spend 75…[Read more]

Did you have the voltage set correctly for your country? Meaning115v or 230v? I know when I first started, I thought my power supply was dead cause it did the same thing. But then I thought of using my computer power cable for my power supply cause of it being the same type of cable. My PS was set on 230v when I got it and didn’t pay attention so…[Read more]

Where did you order your kit from? I’d recommend a hildbrandt kit for a starter, not the best but good for the price. That’s what I started with, the machines were a little heavy for me at first but grew on me as time went on. I actually still use them but I’ve customized them with new springs, coils, and armature bar.

Well I’ve been learning about tattooing for just about three years now. I didn’t go upon it the right way at first, I’ll admit. But now that I’ve began to study and actually LEARN, I’d say I’ve been tattooing for 3 months now. Seeing my dad have tattoos since I was a kid always made me want to be a TATTOO ARTIST not just a TATTOOIST. But being a…[Read more]
