Home set-ups can be effective, This is one of my old set-up I was using in my home from June of 2012 until july 2013. I used glass mirrored folding closet doors set-up in an accordian style to give me a folding wall, the cart is a tea cart from Ikea, and the wall shelf is something I found at a thrift store and gutted so that it opened and made a…[Read more]

Also do they have any kind of foot fungus and what kind of shoes are they wearing. Personally I really dislike feet pieces because the person who gets them rarely takes care of them right, meaning with extra care, have to wash it more, keep it moisturized and basically out of harms way more. Could also be that the skin under is scarred, in which…[Read more]

never used one so can’t say one way or another. In my booth I have 6 machines tuned and ready to go, of course my favs and then back-ups, in the clean room I have another 4 machines tuned and ready to run just in case. My average use is 4 machines per piece, I do alot of larger pieces and like to have my set-ups with a varying needle grouping for…[Read more]

Spider replied to the topic getting burned out too soon in the forum Rants and Raves 11 years, 4 months ago
Most definately take some slow breathes there. And do be selective. If ur in a shop it doesn’t mean that you have to take every new piece that comes in the door. If ur not in a shop you can be much more selective in the process of who and what you ink. If you are good they will come back. Think Guy Aithchinson, if I remember right a few years back…[Read more]

@Spider Thank you Spider, I checked that out but IMO it seems like that’s one persons preference. Not saying it’s bad though.
Well basic tuning is imo, kinda fundamental. That guide is really just that, basic. I mean hell I have my power supply running my liners at a smooth 6 and never higher than 7.25 and my shaders at 8-9. The…[Read more]

ok, so here’s what I’ll do, follow the link here and it will tke you to a hidden page on my shop’s website, The page will have a book that may help a little in tuning your machine. The issue you are having sounds like a combination of your hand moving too fast and not enough stretching of the skin, If the skin is not stretched enough you get a…[Read more]

not sure if you had a jumpy needle or a jumpy hand. Not a bad start but you definately need to work on yur lines. don’t go in so fast when you stop a line to pick it back up and learn to watch where your needle is before you it the skin. In other words just slow it down some. And it looks like you tilted your hand when you hit some curves which…[Read more]

Spider replied to the topic Setting contact screw in the forum My Machine Hates Me! 11 years, 4 months ago
The contact screw should be tuned mostly by feel (throw) and by sound. Ur machine should not ever sound like a minature jackhammer, more like a bee buzzing close to you, the throw is however you want it, whether you are riding the tube or not, your choice on that one. The “o clock” position is just not conucive to a good tuned machine.

Your lines look good, the skull piece is a little too noisy for my taste and style but good none the less. Don’t fall prey to the “well this guy uses this ink” crap either. There are so many good inks out there make sure you get and use the ones you like, my booth in the shop has 4 different brands becaue I like some colors from one, some colors…[Read more]
