do a sugar skull entire out of candy/pastries. I’ve thought about doing one but haven’t gotten around to it. Cupcake eyes, licorice stripes, candy corn teeth, gumdrop nose, etc.

I guess you should do what you feel comfortable doing. You could do 1,000,000 Hitler tattoos and you’d still play no part in creating a racist. He/She is already there. You can however double or triple your price and separate a jackass from his money. :)
I just don’t think I could sit and talk to someone like that for the three hours it may take…[Read more]

Can’t wait to get the full report and see some of your rotary work, Viper. You went Hildbrant, right? I’m wondering how they compare to those $30 Jackhammer ones you can get on amazon.

what if they rotary doesn’t hit the way you like it to out of the box? That’s one thing I’ve always wondered.
Still going to try one some day.

but they masters are only masters because a group of people decided they were. I think there are more talented people out there who will never be masters because they never were put infront of the correct people to make it happen. I can’t stand some of the “masters” and I don’t like to read many of the “classics”. (there is an interesting…[Read more]

I think the beauty of art is that there is no right way or wrong way.
For me I think the only rule would be that the light source is consistent on the individual tattoo. (I have seen some crazy shading) The one next to it could be from a completely different angle and that would be fine. Each portrait would be it’s own tattoo. Think of four…[Read more]

my understanding is your portfolio should be 12 pieces give or take with a representation of your abilities across a spectrum. IE: realism, color, black and white, traditional, etc.

That is AWESOME!!! When I was in high-school, long ago, in art we had to draw an egg and then create something around it. I drew about 1000 sperm coming at it from all angles. The teacher did no appreciate my ode to reproduction. :)

Looks great. Do you outline it, or just go to town? Ricoh on here said he just goes round shader the whole way…and that kind of makes sense to me.

element tattoo supply has been real great for me. Fast shipping, good prices, etc.
Piercing pros on Amazon carries a lot of cheap stuff but their customer service is worth mentioning.
Superior has never let me down, either. I know they are not real well liked among professionals. Shipping is a bit high with them.

hey Viper, Inkcraft.biz has the best I’ve found so far. Softer than most and it even has straps if you want to attach it at weird angles to practice.
