I think the last time I tried it I just didn’t go deep enough. I was so nervous about going too deep I went the other extreme. :(

I like the design. I don’t think there is anything there you won’t be able to clean up. Did you use the liner for the tight corners before you switched to a shading/mag needle?

Bummer is you didn’t finish…so you’ll have to start fucking with her all over again about booking to get it done.

It’s pretty…not sure I’d put a koi f’n a geisha on my body though…kinda beastiality-ish…not my thing. :shock:

That said…the piece looks nice. I think there is room for improvement on shading and color blending. You want it to be smooth. I like how you did the hair on the woman. (and she looks to be having a good time) LOL.

I always appreciate the input. Not sure what direction this one will go…I just want it to heal fast so I can fix it. :)

What’s funny is EVERYONE she showed the picture to LOVED it…and I think that makes me feel worse. :) I just want it to be right enough for my standards I guess…not her’s.

yeah…if you look at the swallow I did in the “weekend fun” thread I did that one all tip. The difference is I could feel how deep it was. I just didn’t have the same feel tattooing someone else. I’m going to just stick to tips for a while. I’ll revisit later.

I think flash is just the word for the “on the wall” art in a shop. i suppose it could be anything at all that is intended to be used for a tattoo.

I think ANY picture is a potential tattoo. I’ve never been big on the deep meanings behind tattoos and most of mine are a picture I saw, I liked, and I wanted to get tattooed on me. The cherry blossoms look great, and to a musician the other may be perfect.

I guess when you look at the original, it is. :) It will be better in a few weeks.

Here is after. Things I know to be true:

1. I tried to use the tip of the needle rather than the tip of the tube…it backfired horribly and I was inconsistent as hell with depth.
2. 42 year old butts give a lot.
3. I will be reworking the lining when it heals using the tip rather than needle. Should be an easy fix but it was a good lesson.

Cool Pictures…the only advice I would give is that EVERY piece of artwork you do is a potential tattoo…not just the “flash” pictures. :) That guy eating a sammich would make a cool tattoo. :)

I keep hearing different ideas on coloring in. Some, like you, say one or two passes. Others say run the machine slow and soft and keep hitting the area to build it gradually. I suppose it is another “what works for you” type of thing.

Thanks. This one “felt” right. Still isn’t perfect but a nice step in the right direction.

I actually shaded before coloring on this one. I didn’t want hard black in the color and made a wash. I’ll post up when it heals and we’ll see what happens with it.

I’ve tried the pinkie thing and I just don’t have the dexterity in my hands. Maybe I’ve broken the fingers too many times…it always feels awkward. maybe I need to try again and see what happens.

Best advice I can give on this site is listen. There is actually some great stuff to be heard. Focus on tattooing safely first, even if it’s you. Don’t wanna spread some yuck around…or get some yourself.
