I put this together in 3 minutes…so don’t critique me on the drawing.
Blaze:
first, go lock your machines in a box and give the key to someone who will NOT give them to you.
Next, print the picture I attached and trace it…but leave the dotted lines off your tracing.
Take your pencil and shade in the areas provided. You will go from dark to…[Read more] -

from the looks of it, it might come out a little light where it’s red. That’s actually a good thing for practice. You can always go back to it and make it darker…can’t go back and make it lighter.
For me, whip shading is 100000x easier with a mag. When you go back to this one, give it a shot. I think you’ll like the results.
I’d also come…[Read more]

now you are just dismissing good advice because it isn’t what you want to hear.
if everyone tells you to draw…don’t you think EVERYONE may be on to something? You have no grasp of shading. If you can’t do it with a simple approach like pencil and paper then you are f**ked if you want to get it in skin.
Yes…these can be fixed. When you go to…[Read more]

That looks great, Eddie. You are way ahead of me.
You can do one line slow, and once…or you can do it fast and 4x. Either way the time in it is the same. I had the same issue at first. I think I was just so excited to be tattooing I hurried it along. Took me quite a while to slow down.
Look in the “show your work” section here…you’ll see…[Read more]

I’m with these guys. Stop tattooing people for a bit and work on your shading. I know it seems like a kick in the nuts…but you, and your friends, will be better off for it.
Criticism:
If you are aware they are bad…you should stop giving them to people. Do you know why they call us scratchers? Because guys/girls get tattoo kits off ebay and…[Read more]

the problem is you. :)
Next time you lay down a line…take 4x as long to do it. See what happens.

make sure your needle depth is correct
make sure you hand speed matches your machine
make sure there is ink in the tube
make sure you have the skin stretched properlyhaving never seen you work, I’m pretty comfortable saying one or more of these is not being done if you are working with a dringenberg. That guy knows what he’s doing.

not a problem…I still have half a stencil pencil lying around here. I let my kid put “tattoos” on with it. :)

He’s using stencil pencils, probably from Superior. I bought one of those to check it out. It will NEVER give you a stencil like spirit paper will.
get the spirit paper to solve the problem.

true black is like Elmer’s glue…I love it but you can’t wipe that stuff off and still be nice to whoever you are tattooing. :)

TexasPT replied to the topic Why the ink doesn't say in the skin when lining? in the forum Pigment vs. Ink 12 years, 11 months ago
load up a machine with a needle and tube.
Run it at the speed you are accustomed to running it. Does the needle reach full extension?
touch it to your thumb on the A-bar, it should bog. Look at the needle when you do this. Does it continue to extend past the tube? Many times people are so afraid of chewing the skin up they run their machines…[Read more]

put a roll of paper towels under him. The arch is creates isn’t uncomfortable and it stretches the skin a bit.
