The building and mechanics fascinate me. I’d be in for a copy. I almost think I like tinkering with the machine as much as I like tattooing with it. :)

TexasPT replied to the topic Better uploading of pics in the forum Suggestions 13 years, 1 month ago
pics upload in whatever size YOU upload them. Resize your pictures to the largest allowed by the site and it will be fine. You will get at least half a screen out of it. If you still need to study it closer save the picture to your desktop (takes 2 seconds) and open it up with a program that allows you to zoom. :)
chances are limits are set by…[Read more]

I bought Baltimore irons springs and they come flat. I tend to work fast so I like a short throw so all I did is with it attached to the A-bar I pulled an O-ring under it. It took a small tweak to get it to clear the nipple on the end of the Abar and they are working great.

Give out a dozen of your machines to experienced artists with good reputations. If you can get professional backing, write the book. If you can’t…you’ll never be taken seriously beyond guys who are “gonna git rich” in their living rooms like that ballers on NY ink.
I personally would love to see a book like that. There is one available on…[Read more]

TexasPT replied to the topic Percentage of actual apprenticed Tattooists in the forum How to Get an Apprenticeship in 3 days or your money back! 13 years, 1 month ago
I think a real artist will succeed in this business without a traditional apprenticeship.
I think tarantula nailed it with ebay kits. EVERYONE can tattoo now.. 90% of them will do it poorly. The other 10% will succeed if they are really that good. The ones that are that good will find an apprenticeship…even if it is their “scratching” that…[Read more]

TexasPT replied to the topic Hello in the forum So Introduce Yourself! 13 years, 1 month ago
this is good advice. My thighs have taken a beating. :) To add to that I’d say everytime you tattoo yourself, or skins, or fruit, be sure you are trying to improve on something. Don’t just draw a picture to have a picture. Find something with challenging line work, or shading, or color blends, or thick lines, etc. Work to improve a skill.

I think the arm doubling in size and hurting like hell may have been an indication that it wasnt normal swelling :P
I’ll disagree, respectfully of course. Ankle tattoos will do it, I’ve had a calf tattoo do it. I’ve got…[Read more]

TexasPT replied to the topic My newest try in the forum Post your work here 13 years, 2 months ago
I think knowing what someone is using just gives someone with a bit more knowledge the ability to recommend and alternative that may be easier or more efficient. I never even thought to line with a round shader until someone suggested it after I struggled to build lines with a tight round.

anything put in correctly will hold up.
I bought the entire prism set, and I love it. The problem with prizm, is they don’t POP like eternal or Intenze. the color is good but it is a bit flat, or almost pastelish, in comparison. I would say go ahead and spend another $50 and get the eternal or intenze. If you look at the stuff I have posted…[Read more]

looks like a solid first effort.
If you have the whole prizm kit use the regular black for lining rather than the tribal. It is a thinner mix and goes in smoother. The tribal black is meant for solid fills. I’ve actually thinned it a bit with witch hazel to line…just seems to go in better for me.
