Also consider getting certified not just studying or reading about it. Hands on education is industry standard, even though it wont get you a license, its still good to show that certification to your potential clients. Nice work there, looks clean too. As for certain colors being hard to pack or shade. Try different brands, some Kuro reds are what I use, Dragon, and Rose for blood since I use multiple colors for blood. And example for yellow I use Starbrights yellow and it goes in pretty smooth.

I like this one. Did he ask specifically for dark color work? I was thinking that maybe giving it that embossed look with scroll leaf design inside the design would of been epic.

This is a good starter piece. You have so many possibilities to do with this. You can enhance the shading/coloring on the hand to give it a more surreal look and feel. That fake skin doesn’t really give you what you need….IMHO. Use pig skin. Or….do what most of us did back in the day….our own legs and arms lol.
