• awesome work! I started off drawing with ball point pen only, but NOT erasing. I taught myself to draw in ball point to emulate tattooing since you can’t erase. I wanted to get familiar with such technique. I dont draw in ball point anymore because of my expansion on different mediums now and my understanding of tattooing. That was like 16…[Read more]

  • I agree your in the right direction. You may wanna slow down and make the color more saturated so the blue and light blue really are separated from each other when you blend them. The Blue looks too spotted. When working with color-coloring remember dark to light. This may include several different shades of blue. Just clean up your line work,…[Read more]

I use 60 lb paper, #2 pencil and light blue pencil for initial sketch. I use Prisma archival ink pen set, Prisma Premier color pencil sets & Prang colored pencils. I use a shader paper pencil for my blending. Then I scan into my system and PhotoShop my name or water mark in places and erase any smudge marks that may remain on white areas.

no line work….hardly at all maybe for eye lashes and white high lites, all shading, light to dark. Learn to draw hair before you decide to tat2 it. My recommendation

  • I like how you incorporated two tone color style for shading. Instead of just the same blue for everything. I would focus on the drawing part too. The ribbon looks way too thick instead of looking smooth and free flowing. You want to give that perception of wavy and free and tangible. So keep studying the drawing aspect and shading.

    As for…[Read more]

  • get the book and read, or google it. My first suggestion.

My advice since your new I’ll suggest the simplest. Buy some stencil paper from a reputable tattoo store online and buy the premade spray. Stencil Stuff worx good, I have a home made concoction myself and the spray.

  • Bend the bar, but not too much to where it rub the inner tube. I also bend my needle config from the solder point a tad. Barely enough to add to the bend so I can get my sweet spot on my setup. So aside from bending my bar I bend my needle grouping at the solder point. I dont recommend this unless it works for you. just what I do and what works…[Read more]

  • Me personally….would leave this one alone, only cause I know how sensitive I am on my lower legs lol So I havent put anything down there in a long time. lol

  • Awesome. I like zombie related stuff. The only thing you need maybe some high lites and then a background to kinda give it a sense of fullness or completeness, would add to the whole dead zombie factor too. Great piece though, I like it man. thanx for sharing this one.

  • ….. Everyone interprets the word “lifestyle” differently.
Lifestyle is a reflection of what we like and who we are and how we live….so I tend to side that tattooing is a lifestyle according to how I interpret the word.

Great thing about this place is you can agree to disagree….. 8-)

  • Agreed, either riding the tube or needle can help depending on situation. I ride the needle so I can see the tube and that gives me better visuals while I work. I used to ride the tube when doing line work, but hated that I couldn’t see what the needle was doing back then.

After a while you will get a feel for depth and skin your working on…[Read more]

  • Ouch! Looks like that one stung a lil. It looks good to me, prolly just get a more blended shade on the blocks and darker outline on the letters on the blocks. Also an idea I got from looking at this would to add a shadow shade of the tower of blocks to make it appear as if its got depth to it. Anyhow…good work man thanks for sharing. ;)

  • I like the design on the skull, good choice of color too.

As for shading I would suggest you do a feather shading stroke…vs just circular shading, cause I dont see it progress from dark to like, looks like one flat tone of shading. Maybe some shading on the back / top of skull would help. The color packing loox pretty good thought.

    Try using…[Read more]

  • A must read, so let me know when it goes to print man.

  • yes before and after pix are good to help promote your work. This one seeing you had the chance to fix it up, I would of gotten the 8-ball more circular and more shadow shading on the chain links. Also what color of ink is that? Navy blue or dark blue? Also if your gonna hit the links with white, then you might as well as peg the 8-ball too.…[Read more]
